My baby sister was here visiting a couple of weeks ago. She is into cartooning, and whenever I have Anime style fabric I think of her. I asked her what she wanted made this visit. She asked for an apron, but she wanted a regency style apron.
So I started by looking up patterns and freebies and images via Google. None to be had for free. There are great patterns at Sense and Sensibility Patterns, but, I figured I could do this. So I made one from white muslin to make sure I had it right. It doesn’t fit my dress form as well as it fits over my cloths. I put pockets in this one. Holds my Ipod perfect for listening to audio books while making biscuits. When we eventually made Michelle’s we added an overlay that had front pockets and appliqued a few more of our super girls on it.
She had one of her pet rats in on the photos. And yes, she sports a small Mohawk. She sewed all the buttons on where she wanted them. We omitted the gathering on hers, and went for a straight look with the black and white stripes it really pops. It was fun. I hope to incorporate a beautiful apron that my Mom bought me in Brussels. I never wear it, but I am gonna do something exciting with it… soon.
i am working on a dress copy for a friend and that is time sensitive. So that will be up until done.
PS I forgot to add HAPPY BIRTHDAY little sis!
