Here we go. Yesterday’s post had my existing tattoo, and here is the addition:
I didn’t clarify yesterday, but the doodle is all my drawing. I really like how this last part looks like a knotted thread. I am super happy with my one armed sweater.
I was soooo cold yesterday from the tat being hot and the wind blowing and just being tired. For me, tattoos are uncomfortable, at times wince worthy, but I get drained from the “sunburn” effect of injured skin. I tend to flex other muscles when I am in a tattoo chair in order to change my focus. So that in combination with a major PiYo workout the other day added up to exhaustion. I crashed last night at 8, and after all the little waking ups that the boys put me through, I got up at 6:30. Nice little chunk of time.
Hopefully I can get some cleanup and sewing done today while Hubby has a day off.
How did I make my one arm shirt do you ask? well, I took the sweater and cut from the opposite shoulder to the armpit seam on the arm I removed.
Then I cinched the side seams.
I picked out a contrasting color of FOE (fold over elastic), and put that on the raw edge of the neckline. I cut the FOE smaller than the neck opening because I wanted the FOE to act in an elastic capacity. I needed the shirt to stay up and missing that other shoulder seam it would fall down.
I replaced the old plain buttons with some jewel tone fancy 80’s buttons I had.
I didn’t buy anything for this project, I had it all on hand from other purchases. I got the FOE from here. I got the buttons from Micheal’s in a grab bag of reclaimed buttons. The sweater was purchased from Gap a few years ago. It worked out really well, kept me very cozy, and now it is on day 2 of healing and holding up well. It will probably see more action, since it shows off the tattoo really well…
Day 14, I had to add the one arm sweater due to healing. This is a stay at home, drink mochas and listen to Belle and Sebastian sort of skirt…
In my kitchen…
I had on my slippers, that’s why you don’t see any shoes here. I don’t intend to leave my house today, so I really have no reason to even think of shoes, right??
