When you are talking to someone and they ask, what are you doing today, and you answer, I am making yo-yo’s to put on a pillow. THEY WILL LOOK AT YOU FUNNY.
try explaining these little beauties.
I tried to draw out a little diagram using my little tablet, but I am in need of practice. I am going to try to be as specific as possible with these directions and I will make another so that we have pictures to be added by the end of the week.
For now, here goes:
after you have made your yo yo’s and you have a bolster
take a rectangle of fabric, 20″x 22″ and two circles 8″ in diameter of fabric of your choice. I went with some velvet I had on hand, I am going to do one out of corduroy next. You will need a 18″ zipper, or a shorter one, but I get frustrated trying to pull pillow forms in and out of tiny zippers. That’s one of the reasons I don’t have fancy pillows…
1. hand stitch your yo yo’s to your rectangle in two lines down the shorter of the two sides.
2. Attach your zipper : see here
(I have never done it this way, but it seems much cleaner.)
This can be a little tricky because doing as they instruct you in the link requires you to push your fabric at odd angles because its a tube, not two flat pieces. When I get some pictures done, I will show you how I have installed zippers.
3. You should have a zippered tube of fabric.
4. With your tube inside out and your zipper slightly unzipped, sew a circle to the end with right sides together. Much like this.
Repeat with other side circle
5. done. yup, done.
Now, I may make an amendment to this post later about adding piping… if I get it done.
