This week has been a little family and farm catchup. We have acquired new pets, done a great deal of laundry and are getting our last video game sessions in before school starts.
The other day the boys and I took a little trip out to a friends farm:
That ugly thing is a baby rabbit. Hairless, eyes totally shut, whimpering with little ears. That particular bunny was born the morning we came to visit.
While I was talking to Danielle, about life (she has 3 young boys as well as hundreds of critters), rabbits, and crazy chickens, she convinced me to bring home an angora as well as my mating pair of meat bunnies.
This is Beatrix and Bucky, they are young, betrothed, and next year with luck we will get some of those hairless wiggly things.
This is Fuzzy (coined by Murphy), she is suuuuper fluffy! Every 3 months I will be shearing her beautiful white fiber and venturing into the needle felting world. Or I might sell it. we’ll see how it plays out.

We were lucky to have been given these hutches by some friends, and I gave them a little uplift with some paint… to match the chicken coop of course:
We brought Fuzzy into the house the other day, just for the fun of it. She is an outdoor pet, and will stay that way. When I was in college I had a friend that had lop eared rabbits as house pets. they were litter box trained and all. It was unusual, but a bit like a Beatrix Potter story also.
Winston the kitten was freaked out by the big white puff ball… but he got over it. The dogs are still getting used to the idea of a new smell. Given the opportunity they would go after them, but, in time they will get used to it too…
