I rarely participate in Quilt-A-Longs, because I am busy. As I have mentioned before, quilting in a traditional way sorta scares me. With the holidays and my need to try new things, I decided to try this cathedral window sampler QAL. When I am done, I will have 9 blocks and when I add sashing and binding, someone is gettin’ a quilt for a holiday gift.
The best thing about this particular QAL is its a “competition” sort of, and you can pick your own fabrics. usually its one of those colorway guided ones or a particular designers newest line. while that is all well and good, I am trying to use my scraps and existing fabric collection instead of $100 worth of new fabric.
So Block #1 is designed by the lovely Sarah of Sew Sweetness. This block went together really quick (for me). Less than an hour.
I love this stag print from Oh Deer by Moda. We have some Lotta in there, and some others I don’t remember the designers of. Sorry. If anyone can identify them I would be grateful. I may add some more of the Lotta in my stash and go get a few fat quarters from Oh Deer to tie it all together, but maybe not. Maybe I will just use all my stag themes…
As it is, I have 1 block. Today is the how to for block #2, on My Crafty Crap by Bree. I am excited to do these, as they are well out of my comfort zone.
