the world didn’t end!
I was pretty sure it would all work out ok anyway. even if I didn’t exist anymore. maybe the mayan calender got the date wrong for the interplanetary bypass construction and our planet gets to stick around a few more days…
on to other things.
The kitten has been cooped up with the weather being so cold and has decided to find amusement where ever he can:
specifically in knocking anything he can reach down…
The raccoon theme week has been going really well. I know that a lot of craft bloggers are all over craftgawker. not me. I have submitted and been rejected several times. It can be very disheartening. there are specific photo details that need to be met… I decided to try one last time with my elbow patches.
and I finally made it.
The point of this little happy dance is to illuminate some of the more frustrating parts about my blogging experience.
I started this blog in 2007. but, like my etsy shop, i didn’t really do much with it for a year or so. then I started reading blogs and trying to figure out what I wanted to do here. I had tiny pictures taken with my point and shoot and no editing. I had some ideas about how to list on etsy, but I was in awe of the bloggers with design and style that I just didn’t have the html skills for.
I started thinking about my photography and noticing that my favorite blogs were those with amazing pictures that were large enough to see detail. I started putting more work into the composition of my shots and decided that if I used my point and shoot everyday for a year I would upgrade to a dslr. I also started posting more. Yet, things were still sporadic and it was really just my family that read this blog then.
so I started documenting all my refashions. I started taking over the computers memory with shots of inspiration and hundreds upon hundreds of pictures and I did upgrade to a dslr, and then to a better dslr.
things started to get interesting. I decided to join up with some sew a longs. I stopped making baby stuff with the CPSIA regulation change and fell in love with laminate, prompting the bag making en devour. I learned some new skills, like manipulating blogger templates and researching presets and photoshop and lightroom… I started really liking photography again and I think that has helped my want to blog.
I feel like blogging in the crafting community is like having a lot of instant resources and penpals. Without them, I would have given up a year ago. I think I am more determined than ever to give you the best I can.
Don’t forget about mi Casa after your holidays. there is always something happening here! And 2013 has a huge project in store, which I will divulge just after the 25th.
