I usually make the valentines for Hawley’s class. Next year, Murphy will be giving out valentines, and it will be fun to see him attending his own party, not just Hawley’s!
last year we did the mustache and pucker up suckers.
this year we did embroidered bug boxes.
A few years ago I found this link through Pip Lincolne (Meet me at Mike’s). I went looking for the post, but I can’t find it, so I am trying to give credit where credit is due.
The embroidery is a traced design from my Charlie Harper coloring book. I used hot glue to get everything attached this time, where as the first time I did it all on one piece. The boxes are old mosquito repellant pill packaging. I think that makes it double funny since there are embroidered bugs on the outside!
When I did these for Hawley and Murphy’s joint birthday party 3 years ago (I think… might have been 4), we released ladybugs into the garden and the kids and Dads spent an hour hunting bugs for their new bug boxes. It was the first party I had been to with little’s that I wasn’t entertaining them. The dads were actively engaged in the hunt through the tomatoes for ladybugs!
this time I put chocolates and a little note inside.
We are going to go to the class party of course, we’ll see how they go over.
