I shouldn’t be making a quilt… I wonder how I can work this into my 365 days?
oh well, I give you the Tula Pink City Sampler: 100 Modern blocks Quilt along!
I will say that I would not have joined in on this if I hadn’t picked up a signed copy of the book at Quilt Market. I guess its excellent timing on the part of Sara and her gang that I needed to try this thing and not just keep the book on a shelf.
I was also inspired to go digging through all my scraps. I realized I may just have enough for this in the last of my Heather Ross fabrics! ( I told you we’d be hitting her a lot this week… there’s still more to come)
The beauty of these blocks is in how tiny they are. Maybe I am on a tiny kick this week…
when you are cutting 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ squares, you can do some series scrap busting. I decided to make this 100 blocks all Heather Ross scraps (even some tiny pieces of double gauze!).
Now, I have never professed to being a quilter. The most I did with ambition was the Cathedral Window Quilt Along. So, this is just another skill I am trying to add to my roster.
So far, I love the layout of the book. It is a simple format and easy to understand. At the end there are sizing options and layout guides for all the sizes of finished quilts. There are descriptions of the different methods of applying triangles (I am only in the square and rectangles right now) and the Quilt along ladies give great troubleshooting tips!
