Hello my Summer of no Pants wearing friends!
I am so excited to be a part of this great sew along! The year before last, I was a participant, and had a great time altering and making and motivating to wear something other than capris. This year I have 2 sew alongs that are summer themed, and the first is the Summer of No Pants.
I thought I would stick to what I know, which is editing an existing garment to be more interesting. In this case I was inspired by Anthropologie and a few sources from blogland.
I took a HUGE men’s dress shirt, and tore it down to be a mock cap sleeve shirt dress, with pockets added!
I am gonna do a little back story and then give you a DIY on doing something similar for yourself!
I started reading Marigold’s blog at least 2 years ago, probably longer. I made these for the first summer of no pants:
then matched it all up with the pockets now out right sides together and did the side seam to the edge of my arm hole.
P.S. I had found the method for dip dye a year ago on Cotton and Curls, but when I went searching for the link for you (as I have used this method several times and have it memorized), I was directed to Michael ann made. While I was there, I discovered her version of the shirt to dress. Check it out!
