Murphy loves moon sand. Really loves it. I am not as big of a fan, sand gets everywhere.
So one day after school we were at the grocery store, and he was doing his usual asking for his toy or that toy or this candy or that candy. After politely saying no, several times, and almost to the point when I started getting frustrated with the repeat questions, I suggested we get the stuff to make moon sand.
He was very excited about that!
However, I couldn’t remember what sort of sand, if it was baby oil, or cornstarch. I got a bag of play sand from home depot for about $4, and we drove home, knowing I had all the other items we might need.
We looked up the various recipes only to discover its FLOUR and baby oil. But, we did find the sand recipe.
using cornstarch and water, mixed in the flour, we came up with a suitable moon sand. We mixed in our old moon sand and used our moon sand toys. Other items like measuring cups and spoons, cookie cutters, and iron man also made an entrance.
Murphy played for an hour, quietly all by himself enjoying his “new” toy.
