It was Murphy’s last day of Kindergarten! Hurray! big first grader!
They had a graduation ceremony, which I am on the fence about. It was cute and there was a huge turnout. It was great to see so many parents involved. However. There is now a graduation for the 5th graders moving on to Middle school. There is a graduation for the 8th graders moving on to high school too. seems a bit excessive on the faux matriculation.
However, they were very cute…
I did make Murphy some special shorts. A set of new Prefontaine’s in airplanes. I made something for myself to match him a little.
I’ll share that with you later.
They were great, sang a couple of songs, and were a little bewildered by the whole thing. I have to say, Murphy really scored this year with a great teacher. She is at first deceiving as a smaller woman, with a quiet demeanor. Her ability to control a group of 25 5 year olds is seriously impressive. They were always attentive and responded immediately when she did her attention getters.
I had given her a bag at the holidays and so I gave her a pocket book for the end of school. SHe uses her half yard tote every day. That is incredibly gratifying.
No intense pinterest worthy teacher gift here. Just a well made
personal accessory for a great woman. Thank you Mrs. Vaccaro for being awesome!
At the very end, the teachers said “… the class of 2026” and I thought… holy smokes, that’s nearly 30 years since I graduated high school. That seems like so long, and not nearly enough.
Summer is here. Hawley finishes up today. We have pool time, gardening, outdoor painting and crafting. Minecraft siestas and birthday parties. A wedding, Jedi science camp, and soooooo very much going on.
