We did it! we went out as the guardians last night! it was great. Nobody got it. Actually, mostof those between the ages of 8 and 12 and went to the movies this summer did. Groot was mistaken for an Ent a few times, swamp thing(seriously?) at least once and sweated pretty good under that mask. But, we had fun!
Me and the Hubs got to go out after the kiddos fun, and went to see the Gentleman Callers in Bend, and had fun watching everyone try to figure out what Hubs was (seriously??!!).
This post is about sewing though, and I didn’t really sew too much of Groot. It was more tack and glue. So- Gamora!
I used my pleather leggings, and then added a color blocked pleather v neck top. I added a little sling belt from the same pleather to hook my sword up. I didnt use a pattern for the v- neck, just sorta winged it. It turned out pretty good for all that though!
I colored myself, and these pics don’t do the green justice. It took a lot of green just to get to this level! The top has green sleeves so that I didn’t have to paint my arms green. It’s also cold here, so the idea of going sleeveless did not appeal.
I made a collar also, and I am glad it was removable because I was only sweaty under that collar!
I couldn’t keep my serious face and I fell over a few times much to everyone’s amusement, because we were at a Halloween party taking these pics in the back yard.
I will say that it felt good to go out and be secure in the way I looked in lots of pleather. TIGHT pleather. I will keep this one for another year, and maybe we will be more recognizable the next time. After a sequel. Until next time…
