I feel like I have been doing a lot of pattern bundle posts. They are all so different and offer so many neat things to make and the 2014 Sew Fab Pattern Bundle is pretty great! This year the bundle contains 10 totally new, previously unreleased patterns for women! Yes! These are new to the scene and the variety is really incredible. From a nightie to a circle skirt, this bundle has got you covered!
I’ll be posting at least one other sew up from the bundle this week, but let’s get this started with the Capitol Hill.
I made it in a very stretchy, silky poly cotton blend french terry from Girl Charlee. When I ordered this I thought it was going to be a little more cotton and a little less polyester feeling. I am not disappointed, I just had to change my plans for it.
I made the great hurried mistake of not checking the size gauge and cut out a medium. that in combination with the extra stretchy heavy drapey fabric made my original look very sad. as witnessed here:
I ended up shaving off quite a bit and raised the hem a lot as well. In the end it didn’t end up as flouncy as the original pattern, but it is true to what I tend to want. I don’t mind a snug skirt 🙂
The pattern is very well written and precise, the pleats at the front give it an unusual interest that changes this from a basic jersey dress to something a little more.
It worked out perfect for our black and white holiday pics!
Are you ready to go get you pattern bundle???
Head on over to the Southern Institute and get it while you can! The sale lasts through Monday the 15th! get on it!
