There are so many pretty dresses. And yet, I rarely go in with the floral prints. Especially the bright eye catching garden party looks. But, here I am, in the sunshine, in the garden, in the floral dress… and really liking it.
This dress has a classic silhouette. A high waisted gathered skirt and a gathered bodice. I made the sleeveless and simple version because the fabric print is so great and intense. I should have added pockets, but I didn’t think about it at the time. One of the best parts of this pattern is the pages of instructions on making it fit you exactly. Adjusting for bodice issues, width and skirt placement, etc. I was able to make this dress fit me like a glove with ease.
There are many things about this summer dress that make me love it. It can be dressed up or down, worn with flats and heels, to parties and the pool. The fabric is beautiful, reminding me of my mothers garden when I was a child.
The patterns from Sis Boom are sweetly feminine. With a moderate sewing level great for beginners and pro seamstresses alike. Jennifer’s take on garden themes and frocks appeals to us all. Sewing pretty dresses that fit our bodies is something we all want.
Now I have a dress that really matches one of my favorite pairs of shoes! The colors are so close you would think I bought those shoes knowing I would someday make this dress.
I wish I would have worn it when we had our spring celebration Sunday. But, it was hailing, then snowing, then raining… Typical spring in the High Desert. But, then, it will be sunny and warm in a few days again. Then rain and snow and storms. Cycle again, repeat. When the sun comes back out, I will have a lovely dress to enjoy it in.
This is one of the times my tattoos seem out of place. But the zipper looks great, so I suppose, one over the other. I can’t take the tattoos off, so, I will make do, and I love them anyway.
I recommend this dress pattern, and if you don’t want the dress, get the fabric! Both are of great quality and versatility. I think I may try this dress in a solid double gauze. That would be lovely too.
