It feels strange.
Saying Hello again after my many month hiatus.
I have reasonable excuses.
After my last post, we had the holidays. I was teaching a lot, we were buying a house, and there was a series of landslides that kept me in traffic in my car listening to podcasts for hours.
While I found some great listening material, I also found time to be frustrated with the commute, the city and my lack of direction in general.
So I focused on what was right in front of me. I didn’t set any goals beyond a week or two ahead. Those goals were more like due dates.
Dates for gifts to be finished.
Dates to cancel a storage unit, get a U haul and keys to the new place.
A date for new carpet.
A date for a new school.
A date for meeting teachers.
A date to go to San Francisco.
And in this fashion the days ticked by, quickly and all of a sudden I’ve been teaching at Nic and Figs for 6 months, I can’t find my W-2’s in the moving disaster and I am setting up new classes and a new adventure.
And so I got a dog.
Because that makes sense right? Barely keeping it all on task and then Ralphie came to us.
He is a great little guy and he is my new best friend. Follows me everywhere, sleeps as close as he can to me, freaks out when I get home.
He’s amazing at the dog park, with the visiting toddlers and with the bigger boys. He goes nuts for his ball and sorta likes his elderly partner in crime Cricket. Mostly he likes her, she is just a grumpy old witch.
And through all of this, I am happy to be here. I am so thrilled that we are back in the city. That I get to go and teach sewing, and socialize with real people every week. I am excited that we came back at just the right time.
I am trying to manage my time better to get my patterns developed and the fabric listed and the site transferred to a new host… and… and… and…
At least once a day I miss our old house. Our old backyard. Our old setup and friends. I miss my in-laws, They were such a huge part of our everyday.
I promise to be back here on the regular. promise…
