I wanted to try something I do not normally wear. The Skirt.
The Sally from schnittchen is a dress pattern that can be made as just the skirt. I knew that if I made it as a dress it wouldn’t get worn. As a skirt however, it might get some rotation. I choose a very easily wrinkled cotton. While I was putting the pattern together I realized I didn’t have enough to make matching bias binding. I solved my problem by using black to bind the pockets and make the waistband. The directions are very short and to the point, but they are translated to English and were a little backwards in places. I figured it out, but I recommend waiting to attack this until you reach experienced beginner sewing status.
The Sally has a wraparound bow. I don’t like bows. I decided to use hook and eyes to be the closure and keep it as a wraparound style. In the winter I will wear a sweater and tights and clogs. For now, I am just out in my tee shirt and sandals as it is still sunny occasionally!
