I was wandering around JoAnn’s the other day looking at everything that was on super sale when I found a section of prequilted poly-filled rip stop? I’m not sure I would call it water proof, it is very wind resistant, and I wear it constantly since I seem to be cold all the time. While I was looking at the bolts and thinking of what I would make I was reminded of the excellent down pullovers many wear in colder regions (like the one I was living in).
Then, like a lightning bolt I thought of the cool curves in the Jasper sweater. But this fabric doesn’t stretch. I wanted the pullover to be somewhat form fitting, but not a wrestling match to get on. So I made a few slight alterations in size (from xsmall to small) and went to work.
I extended the cuffs a little and serged the whole thing so the crazy fraying poly fill mess didn’t look so messy. You line it I suppose, but that would add a great amount of bulk. The fabric itself is lined already. This one is black on one side and these paint splatters on the other.
This fits under my regular coats too, which means it adds a really nice layer of warmth on the wet days when the cold goes all the way to your bones. I really love it, I wear it all of the time. Give it a shot, I think you might be surprised! My first Jasper is here.
