I wasn’t sure how I felt about Saunio. I wanted to really like it, and in the lookbook and pattern specs I did. When the collection first came out from Named I was over the moon about it on the whole, but I have a hard time with boxy oversized and short. I want things to be a little longer or pullover styled in the “boxy” category.
To keep going with the #sewmystyle project, I made this Saunio. I wasn’t sure what kind of fabric I wanted to do, and I wasn’t sure how I wanted the sleeves to fit. For now, I have done it according to the pattern instructions and dimensions. I used a sweater printed sweatshirt fleece from JoAnn Fabrics.
I live really (REALLY) close to a JoAnn’s. I would love to have a locally owned fabric store closer, but for now, this is what I have. The fleece is soft and cozy but a little heavy for this cardi. The points were very bulky in this fabric. If I make this again (which I probably will with some edits) I will choose a lighter more sweater weight material.
I couldn’t figure out how to wear this one and like it. I tried it over blouses, tanks, layered, skirts, slacks and you know the story – giant pile of laundry on the bed…
In the end I thought, oh! What about just as a casual cover to a rockin’ tee shirt? And I had it. I will say though that I want to make the sleeves longer. For that I am considering cropping them at the elbow and adding a really long cuff of ribbed knit.
Have you made this one? How do you like yours? Any recommendations?
I will get better pics soon, I took these on my phone and usually that isn’t a problem, but these are really grainy…
