Over the years I have transformed a few old grandpa sweaters into things a little more interesting. This time I started with what I thought would end up chic and cool, and ended up over sized, cozy and a favorite.
I started with this cool sweater knit from JoAnn Fabrics and the Rumi Pullover from Cali Faye Collection Patterns. I immediately ran into the same problem I always seem to have with their patterns- I love the look and the vibe but it isn’t me once I make it.
I originally made it with the shorter sleeves, but hated them in this fabric. Also- its cold- duh.
So I added extra long slouchy sleeves. I didn’t dig the loose hem in this fabric either, so I added a hem cuff and cinched it a little so it grabbed my bum. Now I really like it. Its extremely cozy and the oversize plays into the idea of the original pattern.
During these overcast mornings, full of fog and chill, it is a lovely addition. The sun warms up the fall day. Then mother nature says -“hey, I’m not done with you yet!”
Have you made this pattern yet? What did you think? Did you put it on Kollabura? or Pinterest? or Instagram, let me know- I’d love to show you some love!
Have a great Wednesday!
