Halloween- a time of year when I get MANY requests for help and my kids change their minds 3 or 4 times the week before. I am always sewing up to the last moment, but this year I felt a little better prepared.
First up- Flash. In these pics he had his pants on backwards. I did pleather piping that I made and used the skinny version of the Kudzu Cargos as a base for these. Both Flash and Zoom used the Kudzu pattern altered for size and slightly tighter fit. Zoom is the bad guy in the DC Comics story line. Both costumes were very similar just different colors because Zoom is an opposite to Flash.
The Murphster asked to be a Satyr for the dressing up portion and so, new fuzzy pants and forest creature makeup and hair to go with his horns and we were done.
Flash’s mask is from an artisan in New Orleans. His mom had it made for this super fan and I helped with the costume. The hoodie is a basic raglan with a hood. All of the change in texture is either appliqued or pieced. I tried to make it so that both boys could use the hoodies for the rest of the year if they so choose.
They had a blast play fighting and we surprised Flash by showing up with Zoom.
Personally, I love the simplicity of Murphy’s choice here.
I also made an Ursula skirt for another friend, but it isn’t as good as I want it because it was very last minute. Im hoping to work on that some more as the year goes so that we can really get a good costume out of it.
Hopefully your Halloween was awesome. I know it is almost December, but this is still fresh in my head. Also, the huntress coat on the far left was made last year at the Casa Crafty studio!
